Harry, our Conductor for 30 years until the annual concert in May, 2008, graduated with a B. Mus in 1971 and began teaching in 1972. He retired from his position as Principal Teacher of Music at Hamilton Grammar in the summer of 2003.
Appointed as conductor of the LCO in 1978, Harry was a continual inspiration to all the members. His good humour and choice of music kept everyone happy throughout session rehearsals.
Harry is also a church organist and choir master. His other interests include gardening, astronomy, golf and watching most sports but especially football. He is a confirmed Motherwell supporter.
In the little spare time he does have Harry also composes music and the Orchestra has played a number of his works over the years.
The members all wish Harry a happy retirement from the 30 years of hard work he put into serving the Orchestra.
